How to hang a picture using picture hooks.

In this guide, we will show you the best methods for hanging your pictures using standard picture hooks. You can view our range of hooks on our Framing hardware page.

Here’s a guide on how to hang a picture using picture hooks:

  1. Choose the right picture hook. Picture hooks come in a variety of sizes and shapes, so it’s important to choose one that’s the right size for your picture and the type of wall you’re hanging it on. If you’re hanging a heavy picture, you’ll need a larger hook. If you’re hanging a picture on a plasterboard wall, you’ll need a hook with a sharp point or picture pins that will easily pierce the plasterboard, You can always ask for our help in choosing the right hook for you.
  2. Mark the wall where you want to hang the picture. Use a level to mark a horizontal line on the wall at the desired height. You can always use a peice of cardboard cut to the same size as your frame to easily position it on the wall.
  3. Once you have measured the wall, you can mark where you want to hang the picture. Use a pencil to mark the spot on the wall along the horizontal line you made earlier.
  4. Drill a hole. If you are using a picture hook that requires a hole, you will need to drill a hole in the wall. Use a drill to drill a hole that is the same size as the hook. Don’t forget to use the correct Rawl plug for your wall.
  5. Install the picture hook. If you are using a picture hook that requires a screw, you will need to use a screwdriver to screw the hook into the wall.
  6. Hang the picture. Hang the picture on the picture hook by attaching the picture cord over the hook.
  7. Enjoy your new picture!

Here are some tips for hanging pictures:

  • Hang pictures at eye level. This will make them more comfortable to look at.
  • Group pictures together. This will create a more cohesive look.
  • Wider frame may require 2 hooks to keep it level.
  • Add some personality to your pictures. Hang pictures of your family, friends, pets, or favorite places.
  • Be careful not to hit the picture hook with a hammer when you are hammering it into the wall.
  • If you are not sure how to hang a picture, ask a friend or family member for help.

Note:

Don’t forget, if you are using more than 1 picture hook to use a spirit level so it doesn’t hang wonky.
